 Sir,

 This has reference to your letter conveying your willingness to be considered for appointment as Member CBDT.

2.       The Selection Committee (as constituted under the Recruitment Rules) relies, inter alia, on the ACR gradings of the officers in determining the names to be recommended.  In this connection, this Department has been receiving requests from some of the candidates objecting to the validity itself of some of the ACRs for reasons such as Reporting Officer not supervised the work of the officer for the minimum period required, report initiated by the wrong Reporting Officer, etc.  Some candidates have objected to the period for which the report is being reckoned.  Clearly, in all such requests, it is noticed that, only those ACRs, amendment of which in the above manner will benefit the officer concerned, are being referred to. There are no requests for amendments to other ACRs with similar “errors” which are not to the advantage of the officer concerned.  Also, not all officers have made such requests, probably because they are not aware of these details.  Officers making such requests for amendments to the dates/periods of the ACRs after the selection process is over can create difficulties since the selection process itself may have to be reopened.

3.       Accordingly, it has been decided to give an opportunity to all candidates to make requests regarding amendments for whatever reason to dates, periods etc of ACRs that may be taken into account by the Selection Committee.  The details as revealed from ACRs and other details that are readily available in the DoR, in so far as it relates to you are attached.  Similar details in respect of other candidates can be downloaded from the internet link “http://dor.gov.in/”, “What is New” using password : (sent separately by post).

 4.       In case you have any objection regarding the said details in respect of your ACRs or the ACRs of the other candidates, as indicated in the Statements, kindly communicate the same (along with copies of orders, etc justifying the change being sought by you) to the undersigned on or before Friday 25 Jun 2010 (before 5 pm). In case no reply is received from you before the due date or in case the reply is silent in respect of any of the details in the statements, the Department of Revenue will presume your acceptance as regards the accuracy of the details as indicated.
