We have recently availed of the amnesty scheme to clear all GST dues for the year 2017-2018 and would like to express our gratitude for the same. This amnesty scheme has provided substantial financial relief to companies in our Confederation of Maritime industry. We further request you to introduce an amnesty scheme with respect to Service Tax payments from 2009 to 2017. Due to the 2008 global financial crisis several companies were unable to make timely service tax payments as they were undergoing huge financial difficulties. There are many cases of service tax pending before the Tribunal. This amnesty scheme would help clear all of these cases and generate revenue for the government.

Considering the circumstances, we kindly request your office to consider providing an amnesty scheme for delayed service tax payment. Our confederation of companies have always strived to comply with the tax regulations, and hope this one-time request for relief will be favorably considered.
