Tax Information Exchange System (TINXSYS) is a project to facilitate effective tracking of inter-State transactions. The project is designed to facilitate Commercial Tax Departments of various States and Union Territories to exchange the data regarding the interstate trade and help them in checking evasion of tax. The project is being implemented by Empowered Committee of State Finance Ministers (EC) on turnkey basis. Department of Revenue, Government of India has been providing financial support of 50% of the cost of the project activities. The balance 50% is to be provided by the States/UTs. Recently, a facility to check dealer and form details in batch mode has been started to help States track inter-State transactions much more effectively and thus check evasion of tax. User Acceptance Testing (UAT) of e-CST system has also been completed recently. EC in its meeting held on11th February, 2011 has approved the extension of the project till 31st October, 2011.
